Sierra Mist - Wand

February 05, 2006 | :30

The 4th most popular Super Bowl ad of the year according to USA Today’s annual Ad Meter of entertainment value, “Wand” features comedians Kathy Griffin and Jim Gaffigan as airport security workers who give Michael Ian Black the wand treatment over his Sierra Mist bottle.

Coincidentally, later that year the Transportation Security Administration banned soda (among other liquids) from carry-on luggage. And about a decade later, PepsiCo changed Sierra Mist's name to Mist Twst.

"Wand" was created for Sierra Mist by BBDO New York, which would follow up with a pair of Sierra Mist ads in 2007's Super Bowl XLI ("Combover" and "Karate"). The brand last appeared in the Super Bowl in 2004 ("Fire Escapes," "Bagpipes").
