Evony: The King's Return - Battle for Evony

Top Games used the 2017 Super Bowl to promote a reintroduction of "Evony," a multiplayer game dating back to 2009. In a teaser released on Feb. 1, George Washington is played by Aaron Eckhart, King Arthur is played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Empress Wu Zetian is played by Fan Bingbing. The full spot, created by Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners, went live the next day.

The ad "Evony: The King's Return" was part of a niche Super Bowl category that was pretty well established by then: app games. Viewers of Super Bowl LI also saw Arnold Schwarzenegger turn up to promote "Mobile Strike" ("Arnold's One-Liners") and a pair of reality-show satires on behalf of "World of Tanks" ("Real Awful Moms" and "Teensy House Buyers").
