The Challenge

The National Restaurant Association Restaurant, Hotel-Motel Show (NRA Show 2012) had seen diminished attendance from restaurant operators, foodservice professionals and chefs. A sluggish economy and increased competition from regional events were two contributing factors, along with the perception that the Show had lost some cache after 93 years.

The Response

To revitalize NRA Show 2012 and generate increased attendance, the National Restaurant Association and Mobium developed an unconventional branding program to emphasize the Show's unique value. Rather than relying upon traditional trade floor shots or city skylines, "Only Here" taps into the fresh ideas, educational insights and networking opportunities that don't happen anywhere else. A new energy and relevance emerges.

The Execution

The campaign helped NRA Show 2012 attract 61,503 attendees and exhibitor personnel—up 6 percent from 2011. Restaurant/foodservice attendance rose more than 8 percent from last year, while retail attendance increased by a full 21 percent for a highly successful show in 2012, and a solid foundation for years to come.
