  • San Francisco—Social media company Twitter has acquired Portland, Ore.-based data visualization company Lucky Sort, the companies announced. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Lucky Sort uses natural-language processing to find patterns in text-based content from social media platforms, government filings, news reports and other websites.

The freestanding service will be shuttered and “several of us will be moving to San Francisco to join Twitter's revenue engineering department,” Lucky Sort CEO Noah Pepper wrote in a blog post. “We'll be helping current customers transition off our system in the coming months such that we can focus fully on our future at Twitter.”
