Stamford, Conn.—Worldwide mobile ad revenue will reach $11.4 billion this year, up 18.7% over last year, according to a forecast from Gartner Inc.
By 2016, global mobile ad revenue will grow to $24.5 billion, according to the report, "Forecast: Mobile Advertising, Worldwide, 2009-2016."
Asia-Pacific leads mobile ad growth, with mobile revenue expected to reach $4.9 billion this year, up 14.0% over last year. By 2016, mobile ad revenue will grow to $9.5 billion in Asia-Pacific, according to the report.
In North America, mobile ad revenue will reach $3.8 billion this year, up 18.8%, growing to $8.9 billion by 2016.
And in Western Europe, mobile ad revenue will total $1.9 billion this year, up 18.6%, growing to $4.5 billion by 2016.
