Business.com names Uphoff CEO

Carlsbad, Calif.—Business.com Media, which connects b-to-b buyers and marketers, has named Tony Uphoff CEO and director. Uphoff, who succeeds Ryan Peddycord, was most recently CEO of UBM TechWeb. Previously, he was founding CEO of Beliefnet.com, president of VNU Media's Entertainment Group and publisher of The Hollywood Reporter and InformationWeek.

Business.com provides how-to guides, price comparison tools, white papers and a b-to-b directory.

Business.com's former CEO, Ryan Peddycord, has transitioned to a paid advisory role, and remains a member of the board, a company spokeswoman said.

"Tony brings a deep understanding of the needs of our b-to-b marketer customers as well as our purchaser audience," said Peter Arrowsmith, general partner at JMI Equity and a member of the Business.com Media board, in a statement. “We look forward to working closely with Tony and the Business.com team to continue executing against our growth strategy."
