Fewer print magazines launched this year

New York—This year, 227 magazines were introduced, compared with 239 magazines in 2011, according to MediaFinder.com, an online database of U.S. and Canadian publications. In the b-to-b magazine sector, 31 titles were launched and 16 titles ceased publication.

One b-to-b magazine that debuted was Food Fanatics, while American Artist was among those titles shuttered.

The top categories for new magazine launches in 2012 were regional interest (with 24 new magazines), lifestyle (18), crafts (18) and food (14).
