New York—WSJ.com, the online companion to The Wall Street Journal, has debuted a local-language website in Indonesia. The launch follows the debut of a local-language edition in Korea that exceeded 6 million page views in its first two weeks, according to the Journal.
There are now 11 Wall Street Journal sites in eight languages, including Chinese, German, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish. International website traffic has increased from 15% of the Journal's total traffic in 2008 to 35% this year.
“We have a vision of repurposing our content in many different languages, allowing us to deliver the breadth and depth of the Journal's news and analysis to readers worldwide,” said Lex Fenwick, CEO of Dow Jones & Co. and publisher of the Journal, in a statement. “We are building a truly global audience of key influencers that advertising customers can reach in a uniquely seamless and global way.”
