NY Times Co. ad revenue declines in Q3

New York—The New York Times Co. announced that its advertising revenue declined 8.9% to $234.0 million in the third quarter. Total revenue declined 0.6% from the year-earlier period, while circulation revenue increased 7.4%, mainly from growth in digital subscriptions and an increase in print circulation prices.

Print advertising revenue fell 10.9% and digital revenue declined 2.2%.

Digital advertising revenue accounted for 24.4% of total ad revenue, up from 22.8% in the year-earlier period.

Times Co. posted an operating profit of $8.5 million for the third quarter, down from $21.0 million in the same period last year.
