'Variety' promotes Sobrino-Stearns to publisher

Los Angeles—Variety has promoted associate publisher Michelle Sobrino-Stearns to publisher. She succeeds Brian Gott, who left the publication after three years at the helm.

The move comes less than two weeks after Penske Media Corp. acquired the Hollywood trade publication from Reed Business Information for a reported $25 million.

Sobrino-Stearns is the first female publisher in Variety's 107-year history.

Penske Media's portfolio of digital brands covering the entertainment industry includes Deadline.com, HollywoodLife.com and MovieLine.com.
