  • CDW Corp.

Agency: StudioNorth, North Chicago, Ill. Campaign: “Heroes Who Get IT” Launch date: February 2012 Creative credits: Art direction/design: Tom Bradley, Shannon Lee; developer: Yury Smykalov; illustrator: Seon Winn; writer: Terry Jones; account director: Mark Mohr; project manager: Stacy Goebel; social media strategy: Tony Chen Why we liked it: There comes a time, after reading emails, work memos and white papers for a few hours, when a businessperson on the go still has time to kill and wants to do something fun, if not entirely mindless. CDW's “Heroes Who Get IT” campaign works best in mobile for this very reason. It's fun and dynamic, yet communicates the point that CDW provides the solutions that help IT pros keep their status as company heroes. Visitors to the mobile site can create a customized IT hero character—even upload a photo for the hero's face—and share it with their social network. They can also name their hero using a drop-down list of IT-themed words. It's an appropriately playful use of mobile that just might save the target audience's day.
