Value of media industry deals up 42% in Q3

New York—The number of media deals in the third quarter fell to 381, a decline of 5% from the second quarter, according to a report by media investment bank Berkery, Noyes & Co. However, transaction value grew 42%, to $23.2 billion, the highest value recorded in the past seven quarters.

The number of media deals rose 5% during the first three quarters of this year compared with the same period in 2011, while total value increased 12%, according to Berkery, Noyes.

The 1,233 media transactions during the first three quarters of this year had a combined value of $54.7 billion, compared with 1,177 deals valued at $48.7 billion during the first three quarters of 2011, the report said.
