PennWell acquires Elsevier Public Safety Group

Tulsa, Okla.—PennWell Corp., publisher of Oil & Gas Journal, has acquired the Elsevier Public Safety Group. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Elsevier Public Safety Group includes the flagship publication JEMS (Journal of Emergency Medical Services), JEMs.com and the EMS Today Conference & Exposition (JEMS Conference). Other assets include FireRescue, FirefighterNation.com, Law Officer and LawOfficer.com.

The “acquisition gives us additional strength in the fire sector, with FireRescue magazine and FirefighterNation.com as complementary to PennWell’s Fire Engineering and Fire Apparatus magazines and FDIC [Fire Department Instructors Conference],” said Robert F. Biolchini, president-CEO of PennWell, in a statement.

Elsevier Public Safety will be part of PennWell’s Fire and Dental Groups under the direction of Jeff Berend, VP-publisher of the unit.
