    Menlo Park, Calif.—Facebook Inc. has rolled out a major upgrade of its iPhone and iPad apps.

    The new software, now available at the App Store, is designed to double the speed for starting the applications via Apple's mobile devices.

    The software will enable users to scroll through their News Feed much quicker, while photo updates will be instantaneous without needing to refresh. Comments posted about photos will also upload much faster. In addition, users can now “like” comments on photos, which was not possible with the previous mobile app.
