'FT' makes editorial staff changes

London—The Financial Times has announced that Martin Dickson will become U.S. managing editor on Sept. 1. He has been deputy editor of the newspaper since 2005.

Dickson will succeed Gillian Tett, who will begin a “book leave” in September. Tett will return to a top management role next year and, in the meantime, will continue to write columns for the newspaper's op-ed pages.

John Thornhill, who has been news editor, will succeed Dickson as deputy editor. Alec Russell, currently comment and analysis editor, will become news editor. Fred Studemann, currently analysis editor, will become comment and analysis editor.
