ComScore: Kindle Fire accounts for more than 50% of Android tablets accessing the Internet

Reston, Va.—The Kindle Fire is hot. The new Amazon tablet accounted for 54.4% of Android tablets accessing the Web in February, according to data from comScore Inc.'s Device Essentials service. The device's share has grown from 29.9% in December. Samsung Galaxy tablets accounted for 15.4% of Android tablets accessing the Web in February.

Device Essentials also found that 10-inch tablets, such as Apple Inc.'s iPad, have a 39% higher rate of content consumption than 7-inch tablets, such as the Kindle Fire. Ten-inch tablets have a 58% higher rate of content consumption than 5-inch tablets, such as the Dell Streak, according to the company.
