NAA: Newspaper website traffic increases in first quarter

Arlington, Va.—The number of adult monthly unique visitors to newspaper websites increased to 113 million in the first quarter, a gain of 4.4% over the year-earlier period, according to the Newspaper Association of America's analysis of comScore data.

In the same time frame, the number of adult average daily visitors to newspaper sites increased 10%, to 25 million. The NAA also said that monthly unique visitors with household income of $100,000 or more increased by about 6% in the first quarter over the year-earlier period.

“These increases come even as more newspapers implement digital subscription strategies. In tracking newspapers that have been charging for digital content for a year or more, we found that 37% have experienced increases in unique visitors, with 24% reporting increases of 10% or more,” said Caroline H. Little, NAA president-CEO, in a statement.
