Washington, D.C.—Publishers use Apple platforms more commonly than Android platforms, according to a survey conducted by the Software & Information Industry Association.

The "SIIA Content Platforms" survey found that 68% of respondents are currently publishing for the iPad and 58% for the iPhone. Just 35% of respondents are currently publishing on Android-based tablets and 38% for Android-based phones.

The survey found some differences between b2b and consumer publishers. Overall, 42% of respondents prioritized licensing and syndications, but b2b publishing executives were twice as likely to place a priority on licensing and syndication.

The online survey was conducted in February. Eighty five publishing executives participated. Full results of the survey will be presented at SIIA's Content VIA Platforms conference, slated for May 9-10 in San Francisco.
