Radio ad revenue up 1% in 2011

New York—Radio advertising revenue in the U.S. increased to $17.4 billion last year, up 1% over 2010, according to figures released by the Radio Advertising Bureau. It marked the industry's second consecutive year of ad revenue growth.

Last year's increase was driven by gains in digital advertising (15%), off-air (7%) and network (3%). Radio ad revenue showed some softness in the fourth quarter of 2011 compared with the same period a year earlier, with a decline of 2%.
