IDG renames PC World and Macworld unit

San Francisco—International Data Group has renamed its PCWorld and Macworld business unit as IDG Consumer & SMB. The company said the new name better reflects the audience the two brands reach.

“Our new name encompasses both our technology brands and marketing services, and clearly identifies the audience and marketers we serve,” said Mike Kisseberth, CEO of IDG Consumer & SMB, in a statement. “We offer products and services for the consumer and small/medium business [SMB] markets that go beyond the PCWorld and Macworld brands.” Kisseberth has been CEO of the business unit since 2007.

With its focus on a consumer and small-business market, IDG Consumer & SMB also hopes to expand its Content Works group, which creates custom content for clients such as Cisco Systems and Microsoft Corp.
