GigaOM acquires ContentNext Media

San Francisco—Tech media company GigaOM has acquired ContentNext Media, which includes the paidContent.org business as well as contentSutra, mocoNews and paidContent:UK. GigaOM purchased ContentNext from Guardian News & Media for an undisclosed sum, but industry observers said the price was below the reported $6.5 million the Guardian paid for the business in 2008.

As part of the deal, Guardian News & Media will take a minority stake in GigaOM. Both GigaOM and ContentNext produce events in addition to their Web properties.
