David Straus, former ABM D.C. counsel, dies
Washington, D.C.—David Straus, American Business Media's former Washington counsel, died Jan. 15 after a long battle with cancer. He was 66 years old.
Straus, who was a partner at law firm Thomson Coburn, was instrumental in fighting several winning battles against the Postal Rate Commission that helped hold down postal rates for b-to-b media companies. He also helped lobby for the CAN-SPAM Act.
In ABM's “E-News” newsletter, Tom Minogue, managing partner of Thomson Coburn, wrote: “He [Straus] enjoyed the respect and admiration of all of the clients he served, so much so that he received lifetime achievement awards from American Municipal Power of Ohio and American Business Media—both clients he worked with for decades.”
