Survey finds 46% of users believe tablets will replace laptops

Atlanta—Nearly half (46%) of U.S. consumers believe electronic tablets will eventually replace laptop computers, according to a survey by market research company Poll Position.

The report was based on a telephone poll of 1,155 registered voters in the U.S. on Jan. 5.

According to the poll, more older users than younger users are persuaded that tablets will eventually replace laptops.

In the 45-to-64 age group, 52% of respondents said tablets will eventually take the place of laptop computers; 30% said they would not; while 18% did not have an opinion.

In the 30-to-44 age group; 53% said tablets would replace laptops; 37% said tablets would not; and 10% had no opinion.

However, in the 18-to-29 age group, only 37% said tablets would replace laptops; 49% said they would not; and 14% had no opinion.
