Quad/Graphics to close Va., Okla. plants

Sussex, Wis.—Commercial printer Quad/Graphics, continuing to consolidate its operations more than a year after it acquired competitor World Color Press, announced plans to shutter printing plants in Richmond, Va., and Stillwater, Okla.

The Richmond plant will close by the end of the year, while the Stillwater facility will be shut down in May 2012. The company previously closed other plants in Mississippi, Nevada, Ohio and Tennessee, as well as one in Quebec.

Quad/Graphics is the second-largest commercial printer in North America, behind Chicago-based RR Donnelley & Sons.
