'FT's' average daily audience increases 9%

London—The Financial Times said its average daily global audience figure—reflecting those who read FT content in print, online, on smartphones and tablets—for the period Dec. 2010 through May 2011 was 2.1 million, up 9% over the year-earlier period.

According to FT, it has a daily average print readership of about 1.7 million, as well as 600,000 who consume its content online and 25,000 via smartphone and tablet apps, which are included in the ADGA tabulation for the first time. To determine the ADGA, FT said it uses syndicated surveys, unique user and browser data, FT proprietary research of its reader base and circulation figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations. Duplicated consumption is removed, and PricewaterhouseCoopers provides “independent assurance,” according to FT.
