  • Framingham, Mass.—IDG announced Monday it has acquired the ITworld.com network and its database of several hundred thousand IT professionals from Accela Communications, Southborough, Mass.

Terms of the deal were not announced. IDG, which is a minority investor, sold a majority stake in Accela to a management team in 2003.

In addition to ITworld.com, the network includes security.ITworld.com, smallbusiness.ITworld.com and wirelessITworld.com. The sites will continue to operate as a stand-alone brand, IDG said. Under a prior agreement with IDG, ITworld.com has featured news and information from IDG media sources.
