Time Inc. names Pearlstine chief content officer
New York—Time Inc. has named Norman Pearlstine exec VP-chief content officer, a new position. Pearlstine had been chief content officer at Bloomberg for the past five years.
The move marks a return to Time Inc. for Pearlstine, who was the company's editor-in-chief from 1994 through 2005.
At Bloomberg, Pearlstine also served as chairman of Bloomberg Businessweek and Bloomberg Government, a Web-based subscription service covering legislative and regulatory issues.
Time Inc., which is preparing for a planned spinoff from Time Warner, announced that it is decentralizing editorial operations so that editors will now report directly to the group presidents of their respective divisions.
In his new role, Pearlstine will have oversight of editorial policies and editors. In addition, he will seek new growth opportunities for Time Inc. brands across all platforms, the company said in a statement.
