Study finds Fortune 500 active in social media

    "Social Media Marketing: Best-in-Class Marketers Rise to The Top" is designed to provide senior-level marketers with a snapshot of the current state of social media marketing, and insights into trends to watch for going forward.

    This reports includes over 54 pages and 42 charts and graphs that are based on the 432 responses from b2b marketers, surveyed in January and February 2013.

    North Dartmouth, Mass.—More than one-quarter of the Fortune 500 were active in blogging last year, according to research from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth.

    In addition, 365 of the Fortune 500 have active Twitter accounts, an 11% increase since last year. The top 10 companies on the Fortune list, including Chevron Corp., ConocoPhillips Co., ExxonMobil, General Motors Co. and, all post to their Twitter accounts consistently, the study reported.

    The study, which examined the blogging activities of the Fortune 500 companies throughout 2012, showed that the telecommunications industry had 40% of their companies blogging, while commercial banks, specialty retail and utilities had 25% to 30% of their companies blogging.
