Guggenheim Partners creates unit to run Prometheus assets

New York—Financial services firm Guggenheim Partners announced it has formed Guggenheim Digital Media and named former Yahoo executive Ross Levinsohn as CEO. The unit will operate the existing Prometheus Global Media assets that Guggenheim controls, including Adweek, Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter.

Levinsohn previously served as exec VP and head of global media for Yahoo and last year served as interim CEO until former Google exec Marissa Mayer was appointed to lead the company as president-CEO.

Guggenheim Digital Media will continue to invest in the print and digital versions of its properties, the company said, and will continue to manage the Film Expo Group and Clio Awards. It will also partner with other Guggenheim businesses, including Dick Clark Productions, to further develop their digital media strategies.

“GDM will play an integral role in developing our iconic portfolio of existing media and entertainment assets, as well as identifying new, groundbreaking investments and partnerships in the music, media, technology and digital entertainment spaces,” said Todd Boehly, president of Guggenheim Partners, in a statement.

“Ross' deep industry expertise and impressive track record of executing digital media strategies make him the ideal person to spearhead this new effort.”
