New York—Global ad revenue reached $139.0 billion in the third quarter, up 4.3% over the year-earlier period, according to Nielsen's Global AdView Pulse.
Ad spending in the third quarter was buoyed by the 2012 London Summer Olympics, as well as the run-up to the U.S. presidential election.
In the U.S., ad spending in the third quarter was up 10.2% over the year-earlier period.
Other regions did not fare as well in the third quarter due to continued economic turmoil. Ad spending in Asia-Pacific grew 3.5%, but in Western Europe spending declined 4.8%.
