  • Westerville, Ohio—Small and midsize businesses are generally confident about revenue growth this year and plan to increase their advertising expenditures, according to a study by marketing research company Ad-ology Research.

Ad-ology's “Small Business Marketing Forecast” found 92.5% of respondents expect their revenue to be flat or up this year, and 30.5% that spent more than $1,000 on advertising in 2012 plan to spend more this year.

While SMBs tend to lag larger companies in the use of social media marketing, 20.5% said they plan to increase advertising budgets on social sites this year.

Ad-ology's online poll of 1,439 SMB executives was conducted in October and November 2012.
