Zucker reportedly set to take charge of CNN
New York—Jeffrey Zucker, former CEO of NBCUniversal Media, is in line to take charge of CNN Worldwide, according to reports.
Zucker, who currently produces Katie Couric's syndicated daytime talk show, is in advanced talks to become head of CNN, the Los Angeles Times reported. Zucker was ousted from NBC when cable giant Comcast took over the company last year.
In July, Jim Walton resigned as president of CNN Worldwide, saying the cable network “needs new thinking.”
Launched in 1980, CNN has struggled for ratings in recent years and continues to lag rivals Fox News Channel and MSNBC, which offer a mix of news and opinion.
