    Email marketing is considered the workhorse of b-to-b marketing. Social media marketing may be all the rage, but email remains the bedrock of customer communications, transactional messages, and lead generation, despite being virtually a legacy channel.

    Boca Raton, Fla.—Data broker and list management company Worldata has launched a new business division that will offer strategic consultancy and implementation of email marketing campaigns.

    SubjectLine.com will draw upon current email list services offered by Worldata, including data hygiene, expansion and appending, and will partner with outside email service providers to handle the mechanics of email distribution, monitoring and analysis, according to Jay Schwedelson, Worldata president and CEO.

    "We looked at the numbers, and 65% of our business is generated by something email-related, with 35% email-only projects," Schwedelson said. He said the separate brand is intended to clearly identify SubjectLine.com as "a new data agency focused solely on email, and with its own staff."

    SubjectLine.com launched this week with a free Web-based tool that rates email subject lines on their ability to prompt open rates.
