  • Redwood City, Calif.—Database management technology company Oracle Corp., aggressively acquiring technologies to enhance its CRM capabilities, will buy customer-service software company RightNow Technologies for $1.43 billion.

RightNow's cloud-based technologies also provide social media management, application development and search marketing capabilities. The acquisition positions Oracle and its Siebel CRM solution more directly against cloud-based CRM company Salesforce.com.

Last week, Oracle announced plans to acquire text analytics company Endeca Technologies, and in July acquired knowledge-management tech company InQuira, both in support of the Siebel CRM application.
