On the Move: Changes at Aviation Week group, MPA, RBI and Ziff Davis
Hamilton named president of Aviation Week group
McGraw-Hill Cos. announced that Gregory Hamilton has been named president of the Aviation Week group, which covers the aviation, aerospace and defense industries. Hamilton, who most recently was publisher-strategic media for the brand, succeeds Tom Henricks, who is leaving to pursue other opportunities, McGraw-Hill said in a press release. Hamilton, who joined McGraw-Hill in 1982, had been publisher-strategic media at Aviation Week since 2002. In that time, he helped expand the brand's global events business.
Griffin takes over as MPA chairman
Jack Griffin, CEO of Time Inc., has formally been named chairman of MPA—the Association of Magazine Media. He succeeds John Q. Griffin, president of National Geographic's publishing group. John Q. Griffin retains his seat on the MPA board. Other MPA board officers are: Efrem Zimbalist III, president-CEO of Active Interest Media, who is now vice chairman; Terry Snow, CEO of Bonnier Corp., who is treasurer; and Tom Harty, president of Meredith Corp.'s national media group, who is secretary.
Jones to retire as CEO of RBI
Keith Jones, CEO of Reed Elsevier's Reed Business Information, announced his retirement, effective at the end of this year. Mark Kelsey, currently CEO of RBI UK, has begun assuming Jones' duties. Jones, who has worked for Reed Elsevier for 33 years, oversaw the divestment of RBI US' controlled-circulation publications over the past year.
Magnotta joins Ziff Davis as CTO
Ziff Davis Enterprise, publisher of eWeek, has appointed Brian Magnotta its chief technology officer. He will report to Michael Caruso, the publisher's CFO-general manager. Magnotta was previously CTO of Reed Business Information for seven years. Prior to that, he was VP-business applications for Monster Worldwide as well as an IT consultant for McKinsey & Co., Coopers & Lybrand and Answerthink.
