Story posted: November 30, 2009 - 12:54 pm EDT

Arlington, Va.—PBS announced that “The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer” will be re-named “The PBS NewsHour” beginning Dec. 7.

Lehrer, who is 75, will remain the anchor of the program. He will be joined by a rotating group of co-anchors, including regular correspondents such as Gwen Ifill, Judy Woodruff and Jeffrey Brown. Additionally, PBS said “The PBS NewsHour” and the Online PBS NewsHour staffs will be merged.

PBS said it has hired Hari Sreenivasan, formerly of CBS News, to join the NewsHour. Sreenivasan will be primary focused on delivering news digitally. During the day he will record four-to-five minute video news summaries, to be posted online at regular intervals.
