‘Wall Street Journal’ launches San Francisco edition

Story posted: November 5, 2009 - 12:57 pm EDT

New York—The Wall Street Journal rolled out a San Francisco Bay Area edition today.

Locally focused news will appear in the Journal. Additionally, WSJ.com will provide regularly updated local news and information at WSJ.com/SF.

NASDAQ OMX is the official launch sponsor of the new edition, which the Journal said reaches 92,000 subscribers. Silicon Valley is included in the circulation area.

The new Journal edition represents the latest salvo in an escalating battle with The New York Times, which introduced a similar San Francisco edition in October.

In other news, the Journal has selected Ketchum Pleon as its agency partner for the Future of Finance Initiative, an international conference that will address the global economic recovery.

The conference will be held Dec. 7–8 in London and bring together more than 100 CEOs, financial executives and government officials to debate key economic issues.

Ketchum will be responsible for developing communications and media relations for the event. The budget is undisclosed.
