WPP Group revenue declines 8.7% in Q3

Story posted: October 30, 2009 - 12:49 pm EDT

Dublin—Advertising conglomerate WPP Group reported that its third-quarter revenue on a comparable basis declined 8.7% to $2.8 billion, compared with the same period last year.

The results, which didn’t include sales gains from a major acquisition late last year, represented a marginal improvement over the second-quarter sales decline of 10.5%. The company attributed the narrower decline to improved conditions in the U.S.

Taking into consideration the acquisition of British market research company Taylor Nelson Sofres in late 2008, WPP’s reported third-quarter revenue reached $3.3 billion, 7% higher than the same period last year.

WPP agencies include JWT, Mindshare, Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, Wunderman and Young & Rubicam.
