Washington, D.C.—The U.S. Postal Service has announced it will not increase prices in 2010 for such market-dominant products as first-class and standard mail, periodicals and single-piece parcel post.
“We want mailers to continue to invest in mail to grow their business, communicate with valued customers and maintain a strong presence in the marketplace,” Postmaster General John E. Potter said in a statement. “We are committed to working with customers to find ways to grow the mail through innovative incentives like the Summer Sale and contract pricing.”
Potter made the announcement, he said, to allow business clients to prepare their 2010 direct-mail budgets more confidently.

Innovative incentives, huh? I just learned yesterday we subsidize election direct mail from politicians with deep direct mail-discounts. It comes with no surprise, after all, they write the laws..

This doesn't say a thing about what they plan to do with Bulk Mail pricing. Nor does it say what they're going to do to reduce their overhead so they don't go bankrupt.
