Survey: Virtual events appeal to marketers

Story posted: September 14, 2009 - 1:00 pm EDT

San Francisco—A majority of marketing professionals are more likely to attend online “virtual” conferences instead of live events and feel confident communicating virtually, according to a newly released survey by virtual events and webcasting company ON24.

ON24's online survey of 530 marketing professionals took place during BtoB's Leading Edge virtual show for marketers June 23. Sixty-three percent of respondents said they are more likely to attend conferences online than in person, and 72% said they feel as confident communicating virtually as they do in-person.

Also, 74% said their companies are interested in virtual events to save money; 50% said saving time was their companies' main interest in virtual events; and 82% cited “green” benefits as a motivator.
