TechInsights bolsters performance marketing Crain buys Staffing Industry Analysts Deal creates largest Web radio ad network

Story posted: November 10, 2008 - 9:30 am EDT

United Business Media's TechInsights last month announced the creation of a new performance marketing unit designed to produce measurable ROI for tech marketers. Through consultation, TechInsights and the marketer will agree upon the goal of the marketing expenditure and how to measure the results. The marketing programs will include Web analytics, reporting and dashboard software to help marketers keep up to date on the program's performance. TechInsights will offer both guaranteed lead-generation programs and pay-per-download programs.

Crain Communications Inc. has acquired privately held Staffing Industry Analysts, a provider of research and analysis covering the contingent work force. Staffing Industry Analysts, founded in 1989, becomes a wholly owned property of Crain Communications and will maintain its headquarters in Los Altos, Calif. It will retain its employees and management, with the exception of Chairman Peter Yessne. Ron Mester, president-CEO of Staffing Industry Analysts, will continue to lead the organization. Crain Communications publishes BtoB.

Internet radio advertising company TargetSpot has acquired online streaming ad rep company Ronning Lipset Radio, forming what the companies say is the largest audio advertising network for the buying of online radio spots. The combined network will consist of more than 50 partnerships with more than 1,000 stations, including CBS Radio and Entercom, and Internet properties such as Yahoo, AOL and Live 365. The network reach is estimated at more than 6 million listeners weekly, according to the companies. More than 33 million people in the U.S. listen to Internet radio each week, according to Arbitron and Edison Media Research.
