Why we liked it: Big boxes are a sure thing in direct marketing, and OneUpWeb's direct mailer, Office Survival Kit, is chock-full of interesting stuff. Better yet, it's full of interesting stuff that clearly gets across OneUpWeb's message that it can help companies understand how to use the Internet to sell, sell, sell. OneUpWeb's box contains a compass for marketers who are “feeling lost.” There's also a coffee cup with a OneUpWeb logo on it. Both are items that the recipients of the kit might keep on their desks, which is good branding for OneUpWeb. But where the office survival kit really goes to work is with the other included items that offer up OneUpWeb's expertise in online marketing. There are survival guides explaining search engine optimization and blogging, case studies detailing OneUpWeb's successful work for its clients, a catalog of the company's services and a disk explaining podcasts. The kit, as all good marketing efforts do, asks for the order: “In case of online marketing emergency, contact OneUp Web.” This survival kit shows that OneUpWeb combines knowledge with a sense of humor and shows itself to be a company that might be fun to work with. All in all, pretty good work for a single direct mailer.
