  • Princeton, N.J.—Despite the slump in the overall economy, most small-business professionals rate their own business conditions as good, according to a study released Wednesday by Opinion Research Corp., an infoGROUP company. The study was conducted by phone from June 24 to July 3 among 500 small-business owners and decision-makers. Respondents were culled from infoGROUP’s small-business database.

ORC found that 65% of small-business professionals rated their own business conditions as “good,” compared with 32% who rated them “poor.”

In terms of the overall economy, the numbers were very different, with only 27% rating the economy “good,” while 71% said the current economic conditions were “poor.” Fifty percent of respondents expect the economy to be good a year from now.

The results were comparable to those from a similar poll conducted in May, according to ORC.
