Newspaper Web sites attract record number of visitors in the first quarter

  • Washington, D.C.—Newspaper Web sites attracted a record 66.4 million unique visitors on average in the first quarter, up 12.3% from the same period last year, according to an analysis by Nielsen Online on behalf of the Newspaper Association of America. The number of visitors represented 40.7% of all Internet users.

    In addition, newspaper Web site visitors generated an average of 3.1 billion pages views per month throughout the quarter, compared with slightly less than 3 billion in the same period last year.
