AOL launches Search Marketplace built on Google ad technology

Story posted: April 11, 2007 - 3:03 pm EDT

Dulles, Va.—AOL announced it has launched the AOL Search Marketplace, a program that enables advertisers to buy sponsored links specifically targeting the search audience on AOL.com.

The service is built on Google AdWords ad technology. AOL said the program will enable marketers to coordinate search and display ad campaigns.

The Search Marketplace is the result of an expanded five-year strategic relationship AOL and Google entered into in December 2005. AOL test marketed AOL Search Marketplace with about 30 advertisers over the previous five months.
